Pre-Cup Match ‘explosion’ is to celebrate local culture

Bermuda is being invited to kick off Cup Match festivities early this year with a free event on Friday evening at the Willowbank Resort in Sandys.

The Somerset Pre-Cup Match Explosion, organised by Von-Rica Dickenson, the founder of Community Restoration Group, and lead sponsor Kennette Burgess, of Focus Marketing and Development Solutions Ltd, is intended to celebrate culture, creativity, local businesses and fashion.

It will feature food, drink, live entertainment, bouncy castles, a variety of vendor booths and a fashion show inspired by Bermudian culture.

Attendees are also invited to wear their team colours.

A spokeswoman said: “More than just a pre-Cup Match event, the Somerset Pre-Cup Match Explosion is a celebration of Bermuda’s community spirit, culture, family, local business and the joy of coming together before one of the island’s most beloved holidays.

“With free entry, beautiful views, food, fashion, entertainment, giveaways, vendors and activities for all ages, this is one Friday evening locals and visitors will definitely want to be part of.”
