Local Latin dance community Clave Dance Bermuda, is celebrating a decade of bringing people together through music, movement and culture with a four-day anniversary celebration from tomorrow to Sunday.

“Over the past ten years, Clave Dance Bermuda has grown from a weekly Thursday social dance gathering into one of Bermuda’s most vibrant cultural communities,” a spokesman for the group said. “It introduces residents and visitors to the joy of salsa, bachata and Latin dance styles.”

Clave said the milestone weekend promises an exciting line-up of social dancing, beach parties, professional workshops, elegant performances and signature events that showcase the passion and energy that have defined Clave Dance since its inception.

The celebration begins tomorrow, where it all started — with Clave’s legendary Thursday night social at Docksiders.

“Guests can expect an evening filled with dancing, great music and the welcoming atmosphere that has made Thursday nights a Bermuda tradition,” the spokesman said.

On Friday, the festivities move to Chaplin Bay for a beach bonfire party celebrating bachata and Afro-Cuban rhythms with DJ Magia. Set against Bermuda’s coastline, attendees will enjoy music, dancing and island vibes under the stars.

The weekend continues on Saturday, with dance workshops at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club between noon and 3pm led by internationally acclaimed American world salsa champions, Benny Ayala and Ashley Magana.

The event offers dancers of every level the opportunity to develop their skills and learn from some of the world’s best Latin dance professionals.

Saturday evening culminates in a black-tie social dance gala in the Trudeau Ballroom, at the Hamilton Princess from 7pm. The evening will feature a performance by Mr Ayala and Ms Magana, as well as a performance from local Latin dance talent Tempo Bermuda, supported by DJ Korie Minors.

The celebration concludes on Sunday from 2.30pm to 6.30pm, on board the Good Vibrations for Clave Dance Bermuda’s boat party with DJ Coye, delivering a final afternoon of music, dancing and island views.

This celebration is our way of thanking the community who has supported us throughout the years and inviting even more people to experience the joy of Latin dance.”
