Future Pro Academy Academy booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Bermuda Triangle Cup following their 3-2 victory over Somerset Trojans on Tuesday night.

Taking to the Flora Duffy Stadium field 24 hours after a 2-2 draw with the National Academy Under-17 on Monday, Future Pro knew they needed victory to guarantee their spot in the last four of the competition.

Goals from the Bermudian duo of Harlem Bean-Fox and Kennahz Fray, together with Xion Smith, secured Future Pro a spot in the last four of the competition. Qur’an Raynor twice converted from the spot for Trojans.

Danvers Seymour Jr, the Trojans coach, was disappointed to concede a third goal late into the match, having come from two goals behind to level the scores.

“It’s always good to play against strong opposition,” he said.

“I felt it took some time to adjust to Future Pro’s intensity level, they pressed us and challenged our ability to play from the back.

“Our players found it difficult to find solutions in the first half, but I encouraged them to continue to be brave.

“At half time, we spoke about a few things we needed to do to be more efficient and effective in possession and also identified our responsibilities out of possession.

“I feel the team responded well to the information, which helped us to get back into the game.

“We showed character to come back from a two-goal deficit. It was a bit disappointing to concede a third goal late in the game, but we’ll take the lessons from yesterday and look to improve upon them.”

In the first match of the night, the National Academy Under-15 drew 2-2 with Bermuda Brazilian Football School Select.

Vashun Blanchette, the under-15 coach, felt that his young team put on a good display against older opponents.

“I thought the players acquitted themselves well and competed throughout the match,” Blanchette said.

“It was encouraging to see the work we’ve been doing in training reflected across the different phases of the game. While there were plenty of positives, there are also areas we know we can continue to improve.

“The challenge now is to build on the performance and maintain a level of consistency over the next two matches, as we continue our preparation for the upcoming CFU Under-14 Challenge Series.”
