Teenage sculptors created art with clay, latex, resin and other materials during a two-week intensive this summer.

Participants in Sculpture in Practice, aged 13 to 19, will show their final work at the LOM building on Reid Street tomorrow.

Sculptor Katarina Hoskins led the programme, developed in partnership with Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, with support from sponsors.

A statement said: “The intensive introduced students to a wide range of sculptural materials and techniques, encouraging them to think beyond traditional two-dimensional art-making and explore the possibilities of contemporary sculpture.”

Students developed ideas and experimented with unfamiliar materials during the first week, and worked on their pieces for display in week two. Participants also heard from Scott King, Phoebe Hughes, Jahbarri Wilson and several other local artists.

Ms Hoskins said the show “celebrates the willingness of these young artists to take creative risks, learn new skills and express themselves through sculpture”.

She added that she hoped to work with Masterworks in bringing workshops for both young artists and adults.

Light refreshments will be served during the showcase, set to run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
