Motorcyclist dies in collision with car in Sandys

A male motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Sandys late on Sunday evening.

Police and other first responders attended the incident which occurred at about 11:30pm on Middle Road, near the junction with Field View Lane.

The male motorcycle rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment but he later succumbed to his injuries.

The female driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Initial inquiries indicate that the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions at the time of the collision.

“Traffic collision investigators are carrying out a forensic examination of the scene. As a result, traffic is currently being diverted via the Railway Trail using a one-lane system. Motorists are advised to expect delays.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam or other recording device and has not yet spoken with police, is urged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 as soon as possible.
