Family set up fundraiser for young Bermudian mother
A fundraiser has been set up to help ease the financial burden for the family of a “young and loving” Bermudian mother who died last week in the United States.
Three families tied to Shania Haller, 29, set up the GoFundMe on Sunday to support the late mother’s two young daughters.
By last night, the fundraiser had collected about $4,500 of its $24,000 goal.
“It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Shania,” wrote the Haller, Cooper and Tavares families on GoFundMe. “She was a young and loving mother to her two beautiful daughters.
“Shania was a big-hearted young lady who was compassionate, loving and always willing to help others in times of need. Her kindness, love and selflessness touched the lives of so many.”
Ms Haller was found unresponsive by the Blytheville Police Department in northeast Arkansas on Thursday, and pronounced dead.
Prosecutors and police suspect Ms Haller died from a fentanyl overdose.
The fundraiser explained that Ms Haller had lived in the US for several months to provide for her family and debated moving there on a more permanent basis.
The fundraiser added: “Her family are still trying to come to terms with this horrible situation that has turned their lives completely upside down.
“Her two girls will need financial and emotional support. We humbly ask for financial support to aid in covering the costs associated with bringing her back home and also her funeral arrangements.
“Any donation, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated and will help ease the financial burden on her family during this very difficult time.
“If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you keep her family in your prayers.”
Lynsey Dinez Stallings, 30, has been accused of being the source of the drugs. She was expected to appear in Blytheville District Court for mention on Monday.
The Blytheville District Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for more information.
