Man denies communicating with teen

A Devonshire man has been accused of communicating with a teenager for the purpose of committing unlawful carnal knowledge.

The 25-year-old defendant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied the offence, which he allegedly committed via a “communication medium” between February 1 and July 27.

He appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and chose to keep the case in the lower court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to August 24 and remanded the man in custody until that time.
