Forum in Hamilton on low-cost residential proposals

The next step in the island’s proposed affordable housing projects will be discussed this week at a town hall meeting in Hamilton.

The Ministry of Housing and Municipalities will hold the gathering on Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm at the St Paul AME Church Centennial Hall on Court Street.

Ministry representatives and technical officers will provide an overview of Bermuda Housing Corporation and Bermuda Land Management Corporation site developments contemplated for five locations.

The proposals cover 13 Ewing Street in Hamilton; Harbourview, St David’s; Ocean View, Warwick; Tudor Hill, Southampton; and Maria Hill, Sandys.

Zane DeSilva, the Minister of Housing and Municipalities, said it was “an important opportunity to share information about the proposed Phase 2 projects, answer questions and hear directly from residents and stakeholders as the proposals continue to be developed”.

The town hall will feature a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.

The ministry encouraged residents of the communities where developments are proposed, neighbouring areas and all interested members of the public to attend.
