Nahki Wells found the net twice but his Luton Town side shipped five goals in a 5-2 defeat to Mansfield Town on Sunday.

Wells started the game as a substitute and came on in the 62nd minute with his team already 5-0 down before going on to give the scoreline some respectability.

The Bermuda striker scored his first goal from the penalty spot in the 76th minute before finding the net again in the second minute of added time at the end of the match.

Defeat leaves Luton thirteenth in League One after three games and banishes memories of a strong midweek performance in the EFL Cup, in which they won a number of plaudits for their performance despite losing 3-0 to Premier League Chelsea.

Elsewhere at the weekend, goalkeeper Nathan Trott featured in goal for Cardiff City in their 2-2 home draw with Sheffield United.

It was a frantic start to the game with Cardiff taking the lead in the second minute through Jack Boylan before Trott conceded twice in the next six minutes to go 2-1 behind after just eight minutes.

Cardiff forward Cian Ashford scored the equaliser in the 38th minute with no further goals coming in the remaining hour of the match.

The point takes Cardiff into thirteenth place in the Sky Bet Championship after three draws in their first three matches of the season.
