A documentary about trailblazing Bermudian footballer Clyde Best has won Best International Film at a film festival in Atlanta.

Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story was recognised at the 2026 BronzeLens Film Festival, winning the award during a ceremony at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Centre at Morehouse College on Sunday.

Kathleen Bertrand, a BronzeLens founder and executive producer, praised the film and said: “Clyde’s journey inspires us all to overcome adversity through excellence.”

Dan Egan, the director and producer of the documentary, said it was the honour of his life to be trusted to bring Mr Best’s story to the screen.

The documentary was screened in Atlanta as part of a two-night special engagement on July 13 and 14 with Mr Best taking part in the festivities.

It earlier won the Audience Favourite Award at the Roxbury International Film Festival and is set to be featured at multiple film festivals across the US this fall.

The film is also scheduled to return to Bermuda in October for a “special encore tour”, offering more Bermudians an opportunity to see it on the big screen.

Meanwhile educational initiatives, prepared in association with Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda, will be rolled out featuring Mr Best’s journey to spark discussions about perseverance, racial equality and overcoming adversity.
