Speeding driver Malik Salaam received a suspended prison sentence, a fine and a ban at Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to going at 81km/h on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with Tamarind Vale, on November 29 last year.

Salaam was also fined $500 and given seven points for the offence.

In addition, senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson said: “Due to the horrendous state of driving on our roads, it’s also a three-months imprisonment suspended for two years.”

The Smith’s man admitted speeding again at 63km/h on March 13, resulting in a further $330 fine and six points.

Accumulating 13 points left Ms Anderson with no option but to issue him a six-month disqualification from driving all vehicles.
