International chefs are set to join some of Bermuda’s finest next month for the return of the Tastemakers event series organised as part of Taste of Bermuda celebrations.

The Bermuda Hotel Association, who are organising the series alongside the City of Hamilton, said the October 8 event will offer seven unique experiences at seven different hotels.

Clarence Hofheins, president of the Bermuda Hotel Association, said: “Tastemakers is a wonderful example of what Bermuda’s hotel community can create when we come together around a shared goal.

“This year’s seven experiences showcase not only the extraordinary talent in our kitchens, but also the individuality of each property and the stories our chefs are telling through food.”

As part of the event, chef Aarthi Sampath, who has appeared on cooking shows Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay, will bring together the flavours of Bermuda and South Asia with a four-course dining experience at the Loren.

Meanwhile, chef Arran McCreadie will deliver a six-course meal inspired by Michelin-starred kitchens across the world at Intrepid at the Hamilton Princess.

Chef Lucas Dickinson will lead a reimagined steakhouse dining experience through a five-course meal at Rosewood Bermuda while Chef Carlos Meléndez presents an immersive six-course farm-sea-forest dining experience at the Reefs.

At Cambridge Beaches, chef James Wambui will offer a seven-course “culinary journey” from Kenya to Bermuda detailing his personal journey, while chef Ricai Williams will highlight Bermudian seafood with a four-course dinner at Fairmont Southampton’s Palmetto Beach Club.

Rosedon Hotel, meanwhile, will offer a unique four-hands dinner featuring executive chef Damien Griffith and sous chef Adam De La Cruz working at opposite sides of the hotel’s front porch.

Tickets for the meals will cost $225 per person, including wine or beverage pairing and service fees, with reservations strongly encouraged as seating will be limited.

Dwayne Caines, chief executive officer of the City of Hamilton, said that the event will provide a unique experience for guests and extend the reach of the Taste of Bermuda festival outside of Hamilton.

Mr Caines said: “To see that momentum continue this year, with seven of the island’s leading hotels coming together to take part, is something we’re incredibly proud of.

“Tastemakers demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnerships, and our collaboration with the Bermuda Hotel Association has enabled us to broaden the Taste of Bermuda experience while creating a platform for some of our island’s outstanding chefs and culinary teams to showcase their talent.

“We’re excited to see the series continue to grow and to give residents and visitors another opportunity to experience the very best of Bermuda’s culinary scene.”
