Kai Sampson has taken another huge step towards his dream of becoming a professional footballer in Spain.

The promising midfielder has joined Málaga Juniors B for the 2026-27 season and is looking forward to showcasing his budding talents at the next level.

“It feels amazing. Signing with Málaga Juniors B is a big step for me and something I’m very proud of,” Sampson told The Royal Gazette.

“I’ve worked hard to get this opportunity, and I’m excited to be part of the club and continue developing as a player.”

Sampson is equally as thrilled to be incorporated into a professional club structure for the first time.

“It’s a really exciting experience,” he said. “Being part of a professional club structure gives me the chance to learn from experienced coaches and players and understand what it takes to play at a higher level.

“I know there’s a lot of work ahead, but I’m ready for the challenge.”

The 20-year-old was recruited by Spanish club Málaga, who play in the Segunda Division, one league below La Liga, last summer and went on to help Málaga Fundación clinch promotion during his debut season.

“I would describe last season as a very important learning experience. I developed a lot both on and off the pitch, and I learnt how competitive football in Spain is,” he said.

“There were good moments and difficult moments. But overall, I feel the season helped me grow and prepare for this next step.”

The son of former Wolves, Devonshire Colts and Dandy Town forward Peter Sampson has coped well with the transition to the Spanish game and culture.

“The transition has been really good. Of course, moving to a new country and adapting to a different football culture takes time, but I’ve enjoyed the experience,” he said.

“The style of football is very technical and competitive, and I’ve learnt a lot from it. I’ve also really enjoyed the Spanish culture and meeting new people. I feel more comfortable here every day, and I’m excited to continue my journey in Spain.”
