A section of North Shore Road is limited to one lane of traffic from today until Saturday.
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment said that the emergency closure is in place near Black Watch Pass to repair Belco cables.
Work will be done between 9.30am and 6pm and representatives from Intelligent Excavation will direct traffic in the area with signs and, possibly, traffic lights.
The ministry thanked motorists for their co-operation and apologised for any inconvenience that may result.
Questions should be directed to Carvalo Duffus, Belco protection and control engineer, at 325-1685.
