A man narrowly avoided a jail sentence and received a large fine at plea court yesterday after being caught riding a motorcycle while already disqualified.

Bryce Daniels received a six-month sentence suspended for two years after admitting the offence on March 12 this year.

He also pleaded guilty to having no third-party insurance, no driver’s licence and using an unlicensed motorcycle.

The 31-year-old accumulated fines totalling more than $3,000 and was banned from the roads for a further six months on top of his existing disqualification.

He said: “It was a foolish mistake. I’m a bike mechanic, I was fixing someone’s bike and I took it for a ride. It was a foolish mistake on my behalf.”
