HSBC addresses card faults
HSBC Bermuda said today the bank was taking action to address a litany of difficulties experienced by debit card holders.
A notice posted online advised that technical solutions were being sought this morning.
The statement read: “Due to essential system maintenance, all HSBC ATMs in Bermuda will be unavailable from 9.30am to 10am on Tuesday, September 22 to aid resolution of some challenges experienced in recent weeks.
“During this time, point-of-sale terminals will be operational. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The bank’s cardholders have had their share of difficulties this year, with complaints that the connection to PayPal was not operational, and some card services were not universally available.
After customer complaints, HSBC said last month that a new fleet of ATMs were being put in place across the island.
The bank said the new technology represented a significant investment in enhancing customers’ everyday banking experience and that the modernisation would give customers greater confidence that they can access the services they need, when they need them.
Last week, however, Facebook was again filled with complaints.
The Royal Gazette has reached out to HSBC Bermuda for comment.
