School sport: swimming and hockey winners crowned
Primary School swimming
The 2026 Primary School Swimming Championships wrapped up with Saltus Grammar topping the overall team standings with 327 points, narrowly ahead of Warwick Academy (297). Bermuda High School (BHS) was crowned girls’ champion with 177 points, while Saltus Grammar also claimed the boys’ title with 212 points.
Ethan Bernardino (Somersfield Academy) was the only swimmer to win three individual events winning the Under-9 Boys 25m backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Saltus Grammar’s Maxton He won the butterfly to round out the division.
Aria Smith claimed double gold in the under-9 girls, division winning the butterfly and freestyle races, while Warwick Academy’s Amelia Burt won the backstroke and Amelia Cann, from Bermuda High School, was first in the breaststroke.
Warwick Academy won three of the five under-10 girls races with Kanji Armstrong doing the double in the freestyle and 100m individual medley. BHS swimmer Mia Yammine rounded out the division with golds in the butterfly and breaststroke races.
Saltus won all five races in the under-10 boys division. Eli Burrows captured golds in the individual medley and butterfly events with Elliot Davidge winning the freestyle, Logan Frawley the backstroke and Lucas Ferguson the breaststroke.
Anya Fahy, from Somersfield Academy, won the breaststroke and the freestyle in the over-10 girls division, with schoolmate Isla Gemmell winning the butterfly. Willa Wright (Saltus Grammar) won the backstroke and individual medley.
The over-10 boys division featured Somersfield Academy’s Joseph Herron winning the breaststroke and medley, Nolan Horrobin, from Saltus, took the backstroke and freestyle titles with Robert Steynor, from Warwick Academy, successful in the butterfly.

Middle school swimming
The 2026 Middle School Swimming Championships concluded with Warwick Academy topping the overall team standings with 235 points. Somersfield Academy was crowned girls’ champion with 132 points, while Warwick Academy claimed the boys’ title with 139 points.
Three swimmers swept their divisions. Eva Desjardins (Somersfield Academy) won the Under-13 Girls 50m backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Owen Fosker (Warwick Academy) took the Under-13 Boys butterfly, freestyle and individual medley. Walker Smith (Somersfield Academy) claimed the Over-13 Boys butterfly, backstroke and individual medley.
Somersfield Academy swept all under-13 girls races after Charlotte Henderson won the butterfly and individual medley. Saltus won the other under-13 boys races through Heath Kemp and Liam Horrobin.
There were two double winners in the over-13 girls division in Evelyn Fahy (Somersfield Academy, backstroke and breaststroke) and Colette Durkin (Warwick Academy (freestyle and individual medley), while Madison Fox (Bermuda High School) took the butterfly.
In the over-13 boys division Walker Smith (Somersfield Academy, butterfly, backstroke, individual medley) and Maxwell Williams (Warwick Academy, breaststroke, freestyle) were successful.

Senior School swimming
The 2026 Senior School Swimming Championships, held on September 29, concluded with Warwick Academy sweeping all three titles.
Two swimmers won three individual gold medals apiece. Scarlett Spurling (Bermuda High School) took the Under-16 Girls 50m backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, while Logan Jones (Warwick Academy) won the Over-16 Boys 50m butterfly, backstroke and freestyle.
Warwick Academy won each race in both boys divisions through Ethan Smith (butterfly, individual medley), Cameron Duda (backstroke and breaststroke) and Jacob Leclerc (freestyle) winning all the under-16 races
Jones (butterfly, backstroke, freestyle) and Joseph Lau (breaststroke and individual medley) combined to win the over-16 boys races.
In the under-16 girls division, Allison Steynor (Warwick Academy) won the butterfly, Scarlett Spurling (Bermuda High School) the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, with Sofia Leclerc (Warwick Academy) victorious in the individual medley
Cristina Abend (Bermuda High School) won the butterfly and individual medley in the over-16 girls division, with Joy Yammine (Bermuda High School) winning the backstroke and freestyle and Freya Lau (Warwick Academy) successful in the breaststroke.

Middle School Hockey
Warwick Academy White were victorious in the Middle School Girls hockey tournament after a 2-0 win over Somersfield Academy in the final.
Warwick got second-half goals from Guadalope Pena and Siaana Seth to finally break down a hard-working Somersfield team. Warwick Academy White edged past Warwick Academy Blue 2-1 in the semi final with goals from Pena and Aria Samuels. Somersfield Green reached the final after defeating Saltus Grammar School 2-0 in the semi-final with goals from Keira Wheeler and Charlotte Henderson.
The Whitney Institute won the boys’ six-team round-robin tournament after finishing the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. The deciding match came after they edged also previously undefeated Saltus 2-1 in their penultimate match. Cyme Dowling and Julian Simmons both scored in the decisive match. Tikobi Robinson led Whitney on the day with six goals in five games.

Senior School Hockey
Warwick Academy and Saltus Grammar came out on top in the boys and girls senior school hockey tournaments respectively.
In a small but select field, the Warwick Academy boys won both their matches to be crowned champions, beating Saltus Grammar 3-2 and Somersfield Academy 1-0. Michael Schrah (two), Max Kimberley and Will Britten scored Warwick’s four goals in the tournament.
Four teams contested the senior school girls tournament with Saltus Grammar the only team to finish with a 100 per cent record.
Saltus beat Somersfield Academy 3-0, Warwick Academy Blue 2-1 and Warwick Academy White 2-1 to finish with nine points and take the title.
Stella Marsh was the standout player, scoring five of Saltus’ seven goals with Leilani Peters and Stella Marsh also chipping in.
