BMA investment webinar tomorrow

Scam alerts, digital deception and the basics of investing are some of the subjects up for discussion during tomorrow’s free investment webinar hosted by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Other topics focus on young investors and the next generation, and investor resilience, as Bermuda’s regulators for fintech, and the gamut of financial services on the island, will be available for investment questions.

Those registered will be able to submit questions for the panel during a segment of the two hour event, which begins at 2pm.

Subject matter experts from the BMA on the panel will include fintech and blockchain strategy specialist Aqsa Zubair, the BMA’s deputy director, supervision in fintech; Keyon Swaby, deputy director supervision (banking, trust, corporate services and investments); Treasa Walker, deputy director licensing and intermediaries supervision (insurance, funds and corporate authorisations); and, Christopher McGrath, director supervision (conduct regulation).

The virtual event via Zoom is entitled “Future-Proofing Finance: Skills, Technology and Opportunity for Tomorrow”.

The BMA said it is part of the tenth anniversary celebration of the International Organisation of Securities Commission’s World Investor Week.

The interactive panel discussion will examine key trends, opportunities and challenges shaping today's financial landscape and provide insights on long-term financial decision-making.

The BMA said this year’s event will explore how skills, technology and innovation are shaping the future of finance, and what individuals can do to make informed financial decisions in a changing world.
