Gibraltar Re awards $90,000 in local grants

Gibraltar Re has awarded $90,000 in grants to nine Bermuda non-profits through its new Community Grants Programme.

Each organisation will receive $10,000 to support projects focused on youth development, job readiness, education, entrepreneurship and community wellbeing.

Joe Barrowclough, Gibraltar Re’s chief executive, said: “At Gibraltar Re, we believe strong communities are built by creating opportunities for people to learn, grow and achieve their potential.

“The Gibraltar Re Community Grants Programme reflects our commitment to strengthening Bermuda through organisations that are making a meaningful difference across the island. We are proud to support these nine recipients and the important work they are doing to help Bermudians build skills and strengthen our community.”

Recipients

- Bermuda Sloop Foundation, for the relaunch of its Spirit of Bermuda educational voyages programme

- Coalition for the Protection of Children, to expand life-coaching and job-skills training for parents

- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bermuda, for leadership development, expeditions and career-readiness assessments for young people

- Family Centre, for its Building My Future summer internship programme

- Knowledge Quest, to help more Bermudians pursue and complete tertiary education

- Waterstart Ltd, to expand internship and certification pathways for young Bermudians

- Skillcraft Bermuda, to support trade internships, certifications and employment coaching for unemployed Bermudians

- Women’s Resource Centre, to expand life skills, career readiness and training opportunities

- Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda, to provide entrepreneurship education, teacher training and certification opportunities for young people

The grant programme forms part of Gibraltar Re’s wider community investment, which the company said has totalled $725,000 during the past three years.

Gibraltar Re is a Bermudian-based Class E insurer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Prudential Financial. Information on the 2027 Gibraltar Re Community Grants Programme is expected to be released in the middle of next year.
