More than 250 delegates expected for first ReWiRe
More than 250 attendees are set to join ReWiRe, the inaugural flagship conference from Women in Reinsurance Bermuda tomorrow at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
Under the theme Reconnect. Reimagine. Rise., the one-day event will bring together women from across Bermuda’s reinsurance market, from early-career professionals to chief executives, for a day of market insight, career development and connection. ReWiRe is open to WiRe members and to the wider reinsurance community.
Organisers said the full agenda is women-led, with ReWiRe’s 40 speakers and moderators taking the stage across more than a dozen sessions, drawn from reinsurers, brokers, capital markets, law, regulation, wealth management and health.
The line-up includes Kathleen Reardon, chief executive officer of Hiscox Re; Sylvia Oliveira, CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda; Lara Mowery, chief commercial officer at Gallagher Re; Cynthia Smith, CEO of Chariot Re; Amanda Lyons, CEO of Aon Bermuda; Tsana Nobles, president of Aflac Re Bermuda; Natasha Scotland Courcy, CEO of Athene Life Re; Amy Kessler, president, Bermuda Companies & Head of Global Reinsurance at TIAA; and Yvette Pierre, managing director, policy, strategy and international affairs at the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
Peta White, chairwoman of WiRe Bermuda and president of Vantage Risk, commented: “When we announced ReWiRe in August, we hoped the market would get behind it. To now have more than 250 women joining us for our very first conference, alongside an outstanding all-female line-up and incredible support from our sponsors, is something we’re enormously proud of.
“It shows the appetite for a day that brings women across our industry together to celebrate how far we’ve come, while looking confidently at where we go next.
“ReWiRe was built to be more than a conference. It is a day of honest conversations, sharp insight from industry leaders, and connections that last well beyond one event. I want every woman in that room to leave energised, better connected and ready to make her next move with confidence.”
The morning programme opens with a keynote from Christine Todd, chief investment officer of Arch Capital and president of Arch Investment Management.
In “The Future of Risk: Macroeconomic and Geopolitical Shifts”, Ms Todd will examine how trade patterns, economic uncertainty, conflict, climate and technology are reshaping the risk landscape.
Industry leaders will then discuss how those shifts are playing out across lines of business, before the programme turns to the mainstreaming of third-party capital. Parallel technical breakouts will examine how AI is changing day-to-day work, and the role and limits of data and modelling in decision-making.
Baroness June Sarpong OBE, one of the world’s leading voices on inclusion and leadership, is the keynote speaker. Her address will explore how women can reconnect with their purpose, reimagine what is possible and rise into their full presence and authority.
Ms Sarpong is the former global director of creative diversity at the BBC and was the first Black woman to sit on the corporation’s Executive Committee. She is the founder of consultancy Diversify International, co-creator of the Women: Inspiration & Enterprise Network and the author of three award-winning books, including Diversify.
ReWiRe has set out to pair market and technical content with practical career, leadership and wellbeing sessions designed specifically for women.
In the afternoon, delegates will choose between dedicated breakouts for early-career professionals, mid-career managers and senior leaders moving into executive and board roles, followed by sessions on financial confidence and closing the wealth gap, high-functioning burnout, and balancing a career with family and care.
The day closes with a final impact session led by Peta White, turning the day’s conversations into action, followed by the ReWiRed Networking Reception, sponsored by Axa XL.
Diamond headline sponsors of the conference are Aflac Re and RenaissanceRe, while platinum sponsors are Axa XL, Brit Re and Vantage Risk.
WiRe membership is free and open to professional women working in reinsurance, as well as those whose roles involve daily interaction with the industry.
