Two men were injured after a collision in Smith’s yesterday.

A police spokesman said the collision appeared to have occurred after a visitor to the island who was driving a rental car did not stop at the junction of South Road with Knapton Hill and collided with a private car heading east.

The driver of the rental car sustained a hand injury in the collision, which police and emergency personnel responded to at approximately 3.10pm, and his passenger, who was also visiting the island, had minor abrasions and complained of chest pain.

The spokesman added that the passenger was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

The woman and three minors in the other car were not injured in the collision, but both vehicles were badly damaged.

The roadway was closed and traffic diverted for about three hours while officers processed the scene.

An investigation into this incident has begun and anyone with information should contact Pc Lisa-Nichole Tucker on 717-2454 or ltucker@bps.bm.
