Jail warning for man caught driving while disqualified

A man caught driving while disqualified was warned he could face a jail sentence if he chooses to get behind the wheel again before the end of his ban.

Paulo Sousa’s suspension from the roads was extended for a further six months yesterday in Magistrates’ Court.

The 24-year-old, from Devonshire, pleaded guilty to driving a car on Church Street, Hamilton, on October 21. He also admitted using an unlicensed car and not having third-party insurance.

Magistrate Craig Attridge increased the length of Sousa’s driving ban until July 17 next year and issued a $3,500 fine for the three offences.

Mr Attridge warned Sousa: “If you come back again, you might get to stay.”
