Bermuda concluded their participation at the Fifa Under-15 World Cup & Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, on a high with a 2-0 triumph over Jordan in a Tier D finals match today.

Adam Barritt and co-captain De’Ari Trott scored for Aaron Denkins's side to end the tournament on a bright note.

It was Bermuda’s third victory in the knockout and placement stage, following wins over Macao and Bahrain.

From ten matches played in the whole tournament, Bermuda finished with five wins and the same number of defeats to place 117th of 189.

Barritt’s goal in the final match ensured he finished as Bermuda’s top scorer with six goals, one more than Legend Robinson.

“Scoring in the final match was an amazing feeling as well as being the top goalscorer for our team is a positive to take away,” Barritt said.

“Overall, it was a very good tournament. We experienced a lot of new things as a team and found ways to work harder.

“For me personally I think that it was a good tournament. I played well, scoring or assisting in almost every game is something I can take as a positive.”

While his primary role was defensive, Trott contributed two goals to the team's cause.

“Scoring in the final match was a great way to finish the tournament on a high note,” the Woodstock Academy student said.

“It was a great feeling, especially knowing that it was probably the best goal we scored this tournament.

“The World Cup has been an incredible experience, not only because I got to represent Bermuda, but also because I got to experience different cultures and see where we stand on the world stage.

“Having the responsibility of co-captaining this team also made the experience even more meaningful.”
