A new court date has been set for two men accused of spreading misinformation about a rattlesnake on the island.

Sandys man Victor Bahia and Alvaro Cro, from Southampton, will return to Magistrates’ Court this month after the Crown failed to submit any disclosure yesterday.

Brazilian national Mr Bahia, 32, living in Sandys, has pleaded not guilty to transmitting a message through electronic communications that he knew to be false on June 26.

Mr Cro, a 55-year-old Portuguese national from the Azores, has denied making a false statement to a detective constable that he knew to be false.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until November 19 and extended the men’s $5,000 bail.
