Bridge's guest players don't frighten challengers Rangers: WESTERN COUNTIES

It remains to be seen if skipper Olin Jones is sincere when he claims that Southampton Rangers are not concerned about Arnold Manders' all-round heroics in the first round of the Western Counties Cup on July 13.

However, the guest player's astonishing bowling figures of six for 56, combined with an undefeated 102 that spearheaded Somerset Bridge to an exhilarating four wicket victory with just one ball remaining must be hard to forget.

Yet in today's second round clash against champions Somerset Bridge at White Hill, starting at 11a.m., Jones insists that his side would not be bothered by what went on in the earlier round, inferring those events to be things of the past...in other words history.

Jones was clearly confident that when Rangers take up the challenge of beating their host they will be fully prepared for any obstacle thrust in their way.

Guest players Manders and Jeff Richardson of Western Stars may be key men for Bridge, but none are on the mind of the challengers according to the skipper.

"We don't have any real concern about anybody. We just have to do our job, there is nothing to worry about as a result of what occurred in the last game.

Bridge did make a good score then, but that was against Willow Cuts not us,'' said Jones.

"I expect them to be very competitive, they always give us a tough time in the county. But we are very optimistic about our chances. They have good players with Arnold, Jeff and a few others, but we have the bowlers capable of doing the job against them.'' With Manders leading the way with his bat, Bridge scored 207 for nine off their 60 overs, then dismissed Willow Cuts for 186 in the opening round.

Southampton have beefed up their bowling attack by adding all-rounder Clevie Wade from St. George's as their only guest player. Dexter Smith, also of St.

George's, challenged for a place but they decided to include Wade only.

Bridge have made one change, bringing in Kenny Maybury for Jamie Cann who is unavailable because of work commitments.
