Clyde Quinton Simons, 35, of Heathcote Hill, Sandys Parish, pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred on September 30.

Police prosecutor Insp Peter Duffy, said Simons left Hand Arnold's warehouse in Hamilton around 2 p.m. with cases of spirits to be delivered to four stores.

After completing two of them, he drove to Hamilton Parish Workmen's Club and sold it to people in the parking lot.

He was arrested later. Insp. Duffy said that Simons reported the liquor had been stolen while he left the truck unattended.

On a subsequent interview he admitted selling 20 cases valued at $316.78 and kept some for himself.

Simons said that at the time he was drunk and had been approached by several people asking him for alcohol.

"I didn't do it intentionally,'' he told the Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis. "It was just the state of mind I was in.'' Duty counsel Mr. Mark Pettingill said Simons, had fallen on hard times given his recent divorce and drinking problem.
