Optis’ top five head for Malaysia

Behind is BODA president Anthony Bailey and to the right is Bda Container Line President, Skip LewisFive Bermuda sailors are heading to Langkawi, Malaysia, later this month to compete in the International Optimist Dinghy Association’s (IODA) World Championships.Sam Stan, Antonio Bailey, Chase Cooper, Makai Joell and Ceci Wollmann will be against sailors from 40 other nations when the racing gets underway from December, 28 2010 to January 8, 2011.

Five of Bermuda’s top Optimist Dinghy sailors are heading off to Malaysia later this month for the World Championships..Sam Stan, Antonio Bailey, Chase Cooper, Makai Joell and Ceci Wollmann will join the top five young sailors from 40 other countries in both individual and team racing.Racing takes place on the waters off Langkawi.Meanwhile, Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Association (BODA) held their Fall Series awards presentation at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club last weekend as sailors were acknowledged for their performances.In the “Flying Colours” Green fleet, Jay Riihiluoma took first place followed by Lily Barboza, Joe Arrowsmith and Alice Reeves. Campbell Patton came out tops in the Intermediate Fleet with Nicky Siese second and Peter Dill third. Dill was also named as ‘Most Improved’ sailor in the fleet.Sam Stan led the Advanced Fleet with Antonio Bailey second and Chase Cooper third.
