Man attacks girlfriend’s mother over parking

A man who attacked his girlfriend’s mother in a dispute over a parking space will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson heard Evan Lambert, 42, pinned Gloria Franklin to a mattress, choked her and threatened her with his fist, on the second day of Cup Match, August 3. Ms Franklin shouted at Lambert, from Southampton, and Nikkia Samuels, her daughter, pushed him off her mother, who fled the house.

Ms Franklin suffered bruising to her right arm and left side of her chest, as well as a sprained thumb.

The court heard that Lambert, who was in a relationship with Ms Samuels, arrived at his home in the parish and he began to argue with Ms Franklin over a parking space. He tried to take Ms Franklin’s keys ordered her to leave his house.

He released the handbrake on her car, before returing to the house and carried out the assault on Ms Franklin. Lambert pleaded guilty to the charge.

A social inquiry report was ordered, and Lambert was released on bail until January 28.
