Parents and students can learn more about bursaries for next year’s middle school pupils at an event this week.

Mount Saint Agnes Academy, in Hamilton, will hold an information session and tour of the school on Thursday to showcase what it has to offer.

Prospective middle and high school students can attend with their parents to hear about the school’s curriculum and tour its facilities. They will also have the chance to meet the principal Sue Moench and other teachers.

A spokeswoman said bursaries are available to new pupils who are transferring from primary to middle school — Grade 6 — next September.

They offer people who need financial assistance the opportunity to give their child an “internationally recognised education”.

Ms Moench said: “Our middle school and high school programmes follow a world-class curriculum that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for postsecondary education and their future careers.

“The transition into middle school is a particularly exciting time for students and they continue to focus on core subjects and add elective subjects to their schedule, as well as having access to a variety of extracurricular activities.”

Parents were encouraged to bring their children to the event so they can see the school first hand.

Ms Moench added: “At MSA, we promote a positive environment with a family atmosphere, so we feel that it is important for the students to come along to the session and take part in the decision making process with their parents.”

She continued: “MSA provides a first-class education that is reinforced by Christian values, however, one myth that should be dispelled about the school is that it is only for Catholic families.

“Our current student population is the most diverse it has ever been with 40 per cent being from non-Catholic families. We welcome students from all backgrounds.”

The information session will take place at MSA from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and parents can notify the school of their attendance by calling 292-4134 or e-mailing msaoffice@msa.bm.
