Wolves are hit by player exodus
As expected, former Premier Division club Wolves has suffered a mass exodus of key players according to the Bermuda Football Association's official transfer list.
With 95 players having sought transfers over the summer months, Wolves were hit the worst with 13 of their players having quit the team.
After hoisting their first Dudley Eve championship last season, instead of capitalising on their bounty Wolves' fortunes went south as they plummeted into the First Division.
They also lost the services of Dennis Brown in the process. the former coach now opting to serve the Devonshire club at the junior level.
Former Dandy Town stalwart Leroy Wilson has since taken over the reins, but, surprisingly, they have not picked up a single player over the summer, thus leaving the new coach with just a few seasoned men.
Wilson's son, Nakia Smith, is among the list of players to have secured a release, but the midfield schemer has yet to pencil in where he wishes to play next season. However, it is highly expected he will suit up in the blue and gold of newly promoted Somerset Eagles.
Among the list of notables who have departed Wolves are midfielder Adam Outerbridge, Torry Davis and Anthony Webb to Somerset; Jamal Simmons, Anthony Thomas, Julian Francis, Peter Sampson and Sekai Waldron to Devonshire Colts and Taurianno Trott, John Durrant and Chae Simmons who are heading for last season's unbeaten First Division and Shield champions Boulevard Blazers.
Goalkeeper Michael Higgs, like Smith, has obtained clearance to move on, but is apparently still pondering his final decision.
Perennial First Division minnows Social Club benefited the most from the transfer period that expired at the end of last month with 14 new faces poised to come onboard.
Joining ranks with the Bluebirds are former Devonshire Colts' forward Damon Ming, Dennis Zuill and Darren Williams, North Village's Saki Tuzo, Boulevard's Lashun Dill, Devonshire Cougars' Renaldo Clacken and Gary Burgess, Somerset Trojans' Aaron Williams, Wolves' Kirk Butterfield and Dandy Town's Perry Puckerin.
Paget's Don Vickers, Southampton Rangers' Jermaine Broadley, St.David's' Lonairo Simmons have also signed on at the Angle Street club.
Devonshire Colts have also been bolstered with the arrival of nine new players.
In addition to Simmons, Thomas, Francis, Sampson and Waldron, the Orangemen have also picked up Village's Jamel Smith, Somerset Trojans' Vaughn Davis and Steven Mendes along with St.George's' Kabir Dill.
Trojans received six new players with Town's McLee Smith, MR Onions' Stephen Ludgate and Robin Hood's Gary Ray coming on board, in addition to the trio of Wolves' signings. However, they have lost the services of three key players in Tokia Russell and Omar Shakir, who have moved on to tenants PHC, and Mendes to Colts.
Veteran Lloyd Telford, Tafari Mallory, David Lawler, Jaja Williams, Kirk Simons, Arthur Tucker and Jensen Rodgers have all also sought releases but have yet to confirm their new clubs.
Paul Scope is also reported to be coach Mark Trott's assistant this year.
Premier Division League and FA Cup champions Village have also lost the services of Kelvon Butterfield and Sri Wilson to Town and Jarizhino Simmons to Devonshire Cougars in addition to both Tuzo and Smith.
Goalkeeper Dwayne (Streaker) Adams is also considering a move, and sources close to the club have indicated that veteran goalie is heading west to Somerset Trojans.
Kentoine Jennings was also reported to be in talks with Southampton about a possible move to the club, but so far nothing has materialised.
Friendship Trophy champions PHC have also lost four players in Temiko Flood and Julian Caisey to neighbouring Southampton Rangers, while Nathan Simons has moved eastward to Paget and Marek Noha down to Commercial Division side Lobster Pot.
Top striker Stephen Astwood's future at the club is also up in the air as he continues his pursuit of becoming a professional player in the UK.
But with the arrival of Somerset Trojan's Russell and Shakir, PHC coach Mark Wade must be sporting a beaming smile these days. They have also picked up Alale Furbert from Prospect and St.David's' Kevin Lambe.
However, Quincy Hunt, Stefan Dupres, Enwar Hunt, Art Simons, Marlon Williams, Shannon Bell and Hadley Tucker have all applied for releases.
Cougars have only picked up Boulevard's George Liburd and Paget's Michael Doucet, while fiery froward Craig Darrell has returned to Southampton and Chris Pitcher to St.David's in addition to both Clacken and Burgess who have moved over to Social Club.
Blazers have also acquired the services of St.George's' Sinclair Gibbons along with their trio of former Wolves' players and Town's Rodney Bascome, while last season's top poacher Keith Jennings has also pocketed a release but has yet to make his move.
Among the rumours swirling around the league, Jennings has been linked to Social Club in the capacity of player/coach but to date this move has not been confirmed.
Town, meanwhile, have picked up St.George's' Gregg Foggo and Gregory Dos Santos, with Southampton's Dean Grant also set to come onboard, while Bascome has departed for Blazers and Jahmiko Marshall to Hamilton Parish.
Shea Pitcher is also contemplating a move form St.John's Road, while Roger Leverock was reported to be making a return to the club as coach.
Meanwhile, First Division side Southampton have revamped their entire house with Rick Richardson recently appointed as the club's technical director and former Bermuda senior national coach Gary Darrell and SportsVoice anchorman Nick Jones coming in as coaches.
Along with both Flood and Craig Darrell , Somerset Trojans' Dijaun Simons - another player with former ties to the club - is also set to make a swift return along with PHC's Caisey.
Hamilton Parish Hot Peppers have also profited handsomely, with Colts' marksman Clevon Hill set to join his neighbourhood club along with Devonne Simmons.
Former Town stalwart Anthony (Toe) Wilson has also joined the Hot Peppers who will be coached this year by Neil (Diamond) Robinson.
In the Commercial League, BAA's Jefferey Amaral has moved to North Village Rams, Cable & Wireless' Paul Humphreys to Somerset Bridge and Michael Smith to Social Club, while MR Onions' Edsoh Difrancescantonio joins Robin Hood.
Atiya Symonds is the sole player to transfer in the Women's Division, moving from Wolves Girls to Dandy Stars.
