A community group has pledged to organise an annual Cup Match quiz to foster appreciation for Bermuda’s shared heritage.

A quiz was held as part of the Bermuda Adventure event set up by Imagine Bermuda and other groups in the run-up to the two-day cricket classic last week.

They said it was such a success they will repeat the quiz at future years.

A spokesman said: “The overall goal of the quiz has been to engage residents in a process that sparking dialogue through the community, reflecting on the significance of Emancipation and the subsequent efforts for social progress in the island, while we enjoyed this traditionally festive occasion.”

Bermuda Broadcasting Company shared the 11 quiz questions during the match, while One Communication allowed residents to send their answers by text and also supplied the first two prizes.

First prize, an iPhone 8, went to Don Burgess. Second prize, a 6.1 Nokia, went to Bermuda High School for Girls pupil Iannah Caines, 16.

The spokesman said: “The success of the Cup Match quiz means that those involved have committed to making it an annual event, with the goal of fostering an appreciation for our island’s shared heritage, as well as renewing the fabric of our society.”
