Crash at 4pm delays traffic at West End

A car containing three women crashed and overturned shortly before 4pm on Somerset Road, Sandys, at Scaur Hill.

According to a police spokeswoman, the 72-year-old driver struck a wall.

One person was able to free themselves while the other two were trapped until the fire service could rescue them.

Two of the women were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

As of 5pm, traffic along Somerset Road was restricted to one lane until the overturned vehicle could be removed.

Motorists were advised to expect temporary traffic delays.
