Ignition prepares to fly the nest

Ignition Bermuda Ltd. is set to become the first chick to fly the eVenture Centre business incubator coop after 14 months in operation.

Since the company's inception in April of last year, Ignition has been based in the eVenture Centre in the Zurich South building on Pitts Bay Road along with several other companies who benefit from the funding and infrastructure provided by the centre.

But yesterday the company, which employs 13 people, confirmed that it is set to move to new offices in the City once rental terms have been negotiated.

The Centre was set up by Centre Solutions (Bermuda) Ltd. a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services and Paragon (Bermuda) Ltd. to provide support to promising e-business start-ups by providing technical infrastructure including office space and logistical support, telecommunications, secure hosting, and management expertise along with global experience and partnerships to take ideas out of the lab into the real world.

Executive vice president of Ignition Jim Gould said yesterday: "We are grateful to eVenture Centre for giving us the support we needed to build our business. However, Ignition is ready to establish its own office and become an independent operation."

Mr. Gould said the company's first 14 months had been extremely successful and their client list includes Ernst & Young, HSBC, PRP Performa, Promisant and Rothschilds among others.

"Ignition offers our customers outsourced, subscription based IT services backed by comprehensive Service Level Agreements, which gives them the peace of mind and security of knowing that we'll get the job done at any time of the day or night, whether they're in their Bermuda office or anywhere in the world," said Mr. Gould.

Ignition offers a variety of IT services including HelpDesk+ with 24 hour help desk services, managed security services, managed anti-virus service and firewall management, management of company technology infrastructures on both an ASP (application service provider) and MSP (managed service provider) basis and hosting of a company's business servers.

President of eVenture Centre Gayle Gorman said: "eVenture Centre is very proud to be releasing its first incubatee today. This recognises the success that start up companies with innovative ideas can have with eVenture Centre. eVC continues to assist both our existing and potential new incubatees in developing successful business models."

Mr. Gould said that part of the company's success was due to the customer service agreement outlining objectives and expectations and also imposed penalties on Ignition if service was not up to par.

He also said servicing clients would become more of a focus for the company which he said espoused the "customer for life philosophy".

Mr. James said that Ignition had been lucky and fortunate to have the relationship with the eVenture Centre which had allowed them to concentrate on their core business.

Other eVenture Centre companies include Axiom services, Quo Vadis, ISI Publications, Invesdex, Kitcomm and Global e-Biz.
