Man hurt in scuffle with armed burglar
A Pembroke man was injured in a scuffle with a burglar who entered his apartment and attacked him with a blade.The 39-year-old man suffered injuries to his face in the attack, which happened yesterday at 3.25am.He declined medical treatment.According to police, two men were in the Robin Hood Drive, Pembroke, apartment at the time.The second man, a 29-year-old, managed to escape unharmed.A Police spokesman said: “The intruder fled the scene with a quantity of cash. He is described as a tall, dark-skinned male of slim build, wearing a long, dark coloured hooded jacket and long, dark coloured pants.”The burglary was one of eight reported over the weekend.Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident, to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
