Curfew-break discovered through website party photos

A young woman who was discovered to be in breach of her curfew was given a stern lecture in Magistrates? Court yesterday.

Rodricka Wilson, 20, of Happy Valley Lane, Pembroke, was pictured in a nightclub on the Bermynet website and was sent to prison last week for being in violation of her probation.

Wilson had received probation for knowingly receiving stolen money last year from Greshona Gibbons, a former Bank of Butterfield teller. All but $200 of the stolen $5,000 was returned to the bank.

Yesterday, Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves told Wilson that she needed to get an education or she would see her life repeating itself.

?Drinks will come, but you have to get an education first,? said Mr. Greaves.

?You don?t want to wake up and find that you have lived in the same apartment for 20 years and then your landlord tells you you have to get out because his children are coming home.

?You don?t want Police knocking at you your door, or to have four children running around your feet getting arrested like you were when you were young.

?Get your GED and then dedicate the next five years of your life to getting an education.

?Bermuda has many opportunities, but mainly for the educated.?

He added: ?I?d like to see you become something.

?Don?t be in a hurry to get old and spend your youth wisely. In life you have to sacrifice if you want something good.?

He ordered her to pay attention to her probation officer and released her from prison.
