Dunkley's to distribute Pepsi
Pepsi lovers will have a new distributor for the popular soft drink.
While negotiations are underway, the Royal Gazette has learned that the contract for the distribution of Pepsi soft drinks locally will leave Metro and go to Dunkley's Dairy.
The soft drink giant, based out of Purchase, New York will officially sign with Dunkley's next Wednesday in an effort to bring their entire line of beverages under one roof.
A representative for Pepsi is in Bermuda to oversee the changing of hands.
Mr. Michael Dunkley, head of Dunkley's said that his company has for the past few years carried the Tropicana and Gatorade line of beverages. Recently Pepsi purchased both the Gatorade and Tropicana brands.
Dunkley's will gain the entire distribution package of beverages which fall under the Pepsi banner.
Since being brought to the Island, Pepsi has been distributed locally through Metro (Mineral Water and trading Company) Beverage Limited.
But yesterday no one at the company was willing to speak on loss of the distributorship.
Metro is also the local distributor of Dr. Pepper, Sobe, 7-Up, Welch's Juices and Juice cocktails, Naya Spring Water and Stone Ginger Beer.
The Pepsi line of produces include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi one, Pepsi Twist, Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Code Red, Brisk Iced tea, and Mugs Root Beer.
The company also owns the Quaker brand of oat Products as well as Frito Lay snack chips.
The brand is sold in over 170 countries with a consumer market totalling $56 billion dollars.
Coke, the other major soft drink company is distributed locally through John Barritt and Sons.
For now it appears that in the soft drink battle of which tastes better, there is a new distributor in the ring.
