Chef banned for drink driving
A chef was yesterday banned from the roads for 18 months after he was caught riding a rental scooter while more than three times the legal drink driving limit.
Magistrates’ Court heard that police spotted Shankar Maharjan driving erratically on Trimingham Road in the early hours of Friday, August 4.
A breath test showed he had the equivalent of 269 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood - more than 3.3 times the limit.
Maharjan, 38, from Smith’s, told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo he was sorry and that he would not do it again.
Mr Tokunbo, in addition to the ban, fined Maharjan $1,200.
