Bank of Butterfield shares gained $1 to close at $34 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The increase, equal to 3 per cent, came after 8,483 shares traded.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s stock went up 36 cents, or 1.05 per cent, to $34.55.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 44.98 points, or 2.26 per cent, at 2,038.28.

The BSX Insurance Index closed up 4.93 points, or 0.26 per cent, at 1,907.26.
