Cayman dominate Archibald's battlers

Bermuda suffered their second successive defeat in the Americas North Championship after losing to Cayman Islands 28-15 at the North Field, National Sports Centre, at the weekend.

Coach Brian Archibald’s side found themselves trailing 17-0 at the interval but showed character in the second half to pull themselves within 12 points at one stage.

Bermuda’s three tries were from Conor McGlynn, Brynley Toms and Darren Richardson, while Cayman’s scorers were Michael Wilson, Morgan Shelver and Venasio Tokatokavanua.

Morgan Hayward also kicked a pair of conversions and three penalties for the visiting side.

Bermuda, who lost their opening game 59-7 to Mexico last month, play their final group match against USA South in Atlanta in two weeks.

USA South are second in the group behind regional powerhouse Mexico, having beaten Cayman 39-5 last month.

Basement dwellers Bermuda must to win their final match to avoid relegation to the Cup level, which features Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos Islands.
