against Guyana yesterday.

Nicola Swan, who improves with every game, used her long reach and quick reflexes to give Bermuda the first game as she won 3-0.

Ashlea Johansen for Bermuda lost her match against a much stronger Kathy Shuffler of Guyana in the under 16 and it was left to 18-year-old team captain Carolyn Young to break the 1-1 tie. She defeated Alicia Fredericks 3-0 to seal the victory.

Bermuda's boys team lost 3-2 against the powerful Guyana team who look set to take the boys team championship. But Bermuda had two impressive wins as Nick Kyme lost just one point in his match against Guyana's Julian Chin while Tommy Sherratt in the under 16 also scored an impressive victory against Yerodin Parris who had been tipped to win the under 16 boys title.

Sherratt hit the ball hard for two games, which seemed to suit Parris once he settled down. But, in the third game, Sherratt changed the pace and used lobs and drops to keep his opponent off balance on his way to a 3-1 win.

James Hubbard in the under 19 struggled gamely against Luke Fraser in losing 9-4, 9-7, 9-2 while Mel Caines lost against the under 19 favourite in three straight games 1-9, 2-9, 0-9.

In the match between Barbados and Cayman, Barbados showed their obvious superiority in the girls division, winning all three matches. Andrea Goodridge led the way, losing just one point, and looks to be in a class of her own in the under 19.

In the boys division, Cayman won 4-1 against Barbados as Sam Taylor scored the only win for Barbados. Under 16 competitor Ryan Truss took Stewart Forster to a fifth game before losing 5-9, 9-5, 9-1, 6-9, 0-9.
