Fairmont chain promotes 13 Bermudians

Fairmont Bermuda has announced the hiring or promotion of 13 Bermudian staff into managerial positions.

Nine of the employees have new management roles at the Fairmont Southampton, while four employees have progressed their careers with the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

The hirings and promotions range across a variety of departments from catering, laundry, sales, accounts and front desk to conferencing and destination services.

"By actively seeking and training Bermudian hospitality leaders," said Nelda Simons, regional director of human resources with Fairmont Bermuda, "we intentionally create a strong future for our employees, for Bermuda and for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. I am delighted to be announcing these promotions and appointments today."

Simon Boden has been promoted to director of destination services with Discover Bermuda at the Fairmont Southampton. A nine-year veteran with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, he has served as director of revenue management at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and the Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

At the Fairmont Hamilton Princess since 1993, Roydell Neverson brings front desk and hospitality management experience to her new role as director of rooms, a position that oversees the management and administration of the front desk, including bell staff, switchboard, Fairmont Gold, President's Club desk and housekeeping.

Edward Redmond has been hired as director of catering operations. Prior to joining the Fairmont Southampton, he had positions as assistant manager at Horizons and Coral Beach and as restaurant manager at Coral Beach.

Ashley Stone was promoted to the position of assistant front desk manager at the Fairmont Southampton, which she joined in 2007 as guest services agent.

Karla Wilmot has been named assistant laundry manager. A member of the Fairmont Southampton team since 1993, she has worked as a room attendant and housekeeping floor supervisor.

Michael Scott, formerly assistant manager at Splash Night Club, has been named assistant maitre d' for Jasmine at the Fairmont Southampton.

George Daniel, who has more than 20 years of experience in banquet leadership, including hospitality experience with Marriott, Sonesta and Elbow Beach, has been hired as maitre d' for the Cabana Bar & Grill at the Fairmont Southampton.

Khamini Shrinarine was recently promoted to staff services manager. With the Fairmont Southampton since 2005, she has worked as a conference accountant and also as a human resources co-ordinator.

Donna Mapp brings 13 years of experience in administration and human resources to her new position as recruitment manager with the Fairmont Southampton. Previously, she managed human resources for Bermuda CableVision.

Mark Osbourne, the new beverage manager at the Fairmont Southampton, brings more than 20 years of food and beverage experience, including managerial roles at the Frog and Onion Pub and Oasis Club.

Deborah Rhoda assumes the position of conference services manager with the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. She joined the hotel in 2000 and has held positions as guest service agent, guest service manager, night audit and group accounts administrator.

Timothy Furr has been promoted to sales manager for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. He joined Fairmont Bermuda in 2004 as a rooms division management trainee and has held progressive positions that include guest service manager and conference services manager.

O'shea Tucker has been named staff accountant for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Previously, he held positions as a management trainee, food and beverage projects manager and manager of Heritage Court.
