Forum on mental health
Public feedback is being solicited on mental health treatment and the new mental health plan of the Bermuda Hospitals Board. The Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MWI) will hold a public meeting on Thursday at Penno’s Wharf, St George’s from 7pm to 8.30pm.This is the third community meeting of its kind and is being held in St George’s for the convenience of East End residents.Residents in general tend to disregard mental health and not address the need for services, MWI executive director Sharon Apopa warned.“While we worry about finances and our jobs in the current economic situation, we don’t think about how this stress can lead to depression and what services we would need to help us get back on our feet,” she said.“Mental health is everybody’s business and one in four of us will suffer from a mental health condition. That means if it is not us, it is going to be a family member or loved one. “
