Building healthy love relationships is not only healthy, but helps the community

It is almost impossible to separate yourself from your emotions. You may suppress them or try to put them aside as you tend to your work or other business, but they can come out unexpectedly, causing you to argue with work colleagues or have a short temperament with customers.Problems in your love relationship are often the source of unhappy emotions. Building and maintaining strong love relationships are therefore not only healthy to the two individuals involved, but also the wider community.Body & Soul and the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MWI) partnered this month to offer tips on how to build and maintain strong marriages or other love partner relationships.MWI child and family therapist Letitia Lister said spontaneity matters. She said romance and signs of caring should not stop just because the relationship has been going on for a few years.“Remember all the little things you did when you first started dating? There is a saying: What you did to get them, you’ll have to do to keep them,” she said.Ms Lister said showing you care tends to be even more important in relationships that are several years old.“It is easy to get comfortable and take your partner for granted,” she said. “Send her flowers one day at work, surprise him for lunch one day, give a neck rub at the end of a stressful day or leave a love letter in their bag.“Every couple has different ways to express their love, but do what your partner would appreciate and be receptive to.“
