New sounds resonated at the Bermuda Music Hall of Fame a week ago. They emanated from lively reminiscences about the three newest inductees into the Hall that was jam packed with family and friends of the legends. The Music Hall of Fame (MHoF) was established in 2008 by musician and educator Wendell (Shine) Hayward and former Cabinet Minister Dale Butler, the noted researcher, author and historian. For the first time in its brief history, the focus was not on performing artists but on music teachers, with honours going to the late Joseph Richards, Ada Melvina Joell and Retired Bermuda Regiment Bandmaster Captain Horace Gibbons, who died only three weks ago at 92.The induction was enlivened by the showing of documentary videos produced by Mr. Butler on the colourful lives of each of the new legends; and there was the unveiling of portraits by Mr. Hayward and presentation by him of certificates to each family, a member of which articulated about their kin.
