So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
Hopefully the man in your life has been listening to all the not-so-subtle clues about what you want for the holiday season. If he hasn’t, perhaps he should give this story a read. The Royal Gazette recently polled several outspoken women to ask what was at the top of their Christmas list this year.No gentlemen, it’s not sweatshirts ten sizes too big or the latest Dustbuster vacuum model so hopefully you saved those receipts.Shiona Turini, the founder of Stylebermuda.com, said one of the “apples” of her eye this season is the new Apple TV. She wants to upgrade her 3-D 56” television for the Apple TV so she can stream movies and television instantly without any cost to her cable.“The Apple TV will connect wirelessly with my iTunes, making my life infinitely better. If Santa gets this for me, I will be good for the next two years, promise,” she said.As the accessories editor of Teen Vogue she is also hoping for a Louis Vuitton jewellery box to store her massive collection of bracelets. She said: “I love the clean white lines and the decadent red lining. It has a compartment for everything and also makes an amazing show piece. Part style, part function.”The last thing on the fashionista’s list is a Bermuda sand pendant, available at Crisson’s, that reminds her of home and keeps her grounded to her roots.Author and poet Cha’ Von Clarke is looking for some time to herself this holiday season. Her hope is to receive a gift certificate for a day at the spa; while her second favourite gift item would be a vacation getaway so she can tap into her creative side. “I write best when I’m abroad so that would be the ultimate gift for me.”As an avid reader, Ms Clarke is also hoping to get a Kindle Fire and said: “Though I believe in the importance of holding a “page-turner”, I love the other things I can do with the Kindle, iPad and other devices, like accessing the Internet.”Jeweller Alexandra Mosher is looking for something cute and cuddly for the holiday season. “I really, really want a kitten ... or two. We’re moving into a great new place and it’s the perfect time to get a couple of gorgeous kittens.”Other items that make the top of her list are a pair of “great quality indestructible designer black ballet flats” and a weekend trip for two “somewhere special”.She said: “I’m on my feet all day so I need a durable pair [of ballet flats] that are comfortable, but also chic enough to entertain a client. They’d make me feel so fabulous and I’d think of the gifter every time I looked down.”She said the trip would give her “plenty of time to wander and explore and do adventurous spontaneous things” like take in a concert or other form of entertainment.Social blogger Carla Zuill, of www.carlazuill.com, was looking for practical home items for the holidays, like a speaker dock for her iPad by iHome and a griddler by Cuisinart. She said: “Although I am always on the go, I like to make quick meals, but most importantly healthy meals. With the griddler I can cook up an array of yummy goods, no matter the time of day, and with little mess.”Her big item of choice would be a flat-screen television. She said: “I always spend some portion of a weekend morning snuggling with my children and they are always fussing over who can’t see the TV because they all want to lay on me (the baby always wins).“If we had a flat screen, I could mount it on the wall, everyone will have a good view and all would be well in our world.”
