It was a memorable year for Wilbur and his team, under captaincy of Leroy (Tubby) Richardson, they knocked down Somerset for 68 runs. Wilbur claimed five of those wickets. In his very first Cup Match, Wilbur almost claimed a 'hat trick'. When he opened his bowling, he took a wicket. Later in the day he claimed two successive wickets off two deliveries of his famous yorkers. On the third ball his teammate dropped a catch on the boundary.
