The crockodile crunch

Although fondly referred to as love handles, flabby oblique muscles are not usually enticing to anyone. It’s an area of the body that is extremely difficult to firm up, especially for women.

Fitness enthusiast Joshua Ball says he’s had success with crockodiles an exercise he says is great because it builds strength.

“Real beginners may find this challenging. They may not be able to hold their back completely straight. But if they keep at it, they’ll get stronger and soon find that they can easily do it,” he said.

Exercise: Crockodile crunch

Method

For beginners

1) Position yourself to do a push up with your legs straight out behind you, and your arms straight under your shoulders

2) Lift your right leg up bend at the knee and pull forward

3) Return the leg to the ground and repeat on the opposite leg

Mr Ball recommends three sets of 15 a few times a week.

For the advanced, the exercise method is the same as for the beginners but a push up is added after each set. The push up works muscles in the upper arm and shoulders.
