CASE TEN: RANDY ROBINSON
Age: 22Gang affiliation: Police say Mr Robinson was not in a gang but had a relative who was a member of Parkside.Date of murder: Thursday, March 31.Time: Shortly before 8.30pm.Location: Border Lane North, Devonshire.What happened: Mr Robinson was walking alone up Border Lane North when he was shot at close range about five times in the head and chest by two men on a motorbike. According to police, the two suspects were seen travelling in a northerly direction from the Friswells Road area at “a very slow speed”.When they got to the junction of Friswells Lane, Roberts Alley and Border Lane North, they “picked things up and increased their speed”. After the shooting, the suspects travelled at high speed down the hill of Border Lane North, exiting on Palmetto Road.It is believed they rode past the nearby home Mr Robinson shared with his mother as they escaped. The culprits are thought to have sped across Palmetto Road and onto Orchard Road, heading towards The Glebe Road area.Police received a number of telephone calls at 8.30pm about the sound of gunshots in the Friswells Hill area. Officers arrived at the scene to find Mr Robinson lying in an unresponsive state with a number of gunshot wounds.Victim died from: Multiple gunshot wounds.Other casualties: None.Weapon: The murder weapon is believed to be a revolver, which has not yet been recovered.Description of suspects: Two men on a dark motorcycle wearing dark clothing and dark helmets with tinted visors.Alleged motive: Detective Inspector Michael Redfern said police are working on a number of theories but have nothing “concrete” on the motive. Residents told The Royal Gazette soon after the murder that they knew “it was all going to kick off” after spotting members of the 42 and MOB (Money Over Bitches) gangs together in the Friswells Lane, Pembroke area hours before.Retaliatory attacks: None reported at the time but it is understood that a non-fatal firearm incident which happened this month may be connected to Mr Robinson’s murder.Arrests: Five men were arrested on April 1 and later released on bail pending further inquiries. They have since been released from police bail.Witness appeal: Detectives still need information about the identities of two men riding a dark scooter in the Friswells Road, Border Lane and Palmetto Road areas on March 31.
