North Hamilton town hall meeting to be held

Local consciousness: the Will Onions-designed Hamilton City Hall

The City of Hamilton invites residents and stakeholders of North Hamilton to a Town Hall meeting to be held on Tuesday, October 20, from 6.00pm-8.00pm at the Goodwin C. Smith Hall, Greater Heritage Worship Centre at 59 Dundonald Street.

The meeting is hosted by the City’s North Hamilton Residents Committee and will look for the community to bring ideas and suggestions about necessary improvements for the historic area.

City of Hamilton Chief Executive Officer, Dwayne Caines, said of the Town Hall, “This is an invaluable opportunity to meet with North Hamilton’s residents and businesses so that we can address their concerns and collaborate on viable solutions for the area.

“North Hamilton is one of our more historic areas of the City and we are committed in ensuring that all the needs of residents and business community are met.

“We’re hoping to have a good turnout as this is a solutions driven event. We have also invited some of our community partners to attend so that all can listen and have a well-rounded discussion about the future of North Hamilton and identify the needs of that community with their input.

“The City has done a lot of work in the past with regards to infrastructure in North Hamilton, beautifying streets and sidewalks and the under-grounding of power lines, but much more can be done to ensure that the stakeholders there thrive and we need them to be a part of the conversation.”

The meeting is set to be live-streamed on the City’s Facebook page and attendees are asked to wear masks and adhere to the social distancing measures that will be in place at the Town Hall.
