The Bermudian magazine takes international awards
The Bermudian magazine has netted a string of awards from the International Regional Magazine Association.
The ceremony highlighted accomplishments in editorial, photography, art direction, design and publication and The Bermudian picked up three awards.
Association members include publications across the United States and Canada and the contenders were judged by an independent panel.
Tina Stevenson, the magazine’s publisher and editor, accepted the awards.
Ms Stevenson said the publication faced stiff competition from “amazing regional magazines”.
She added: “It is a testament to the hard work and great talent of our small but mighty team, both in-house and freelance.”
In the 35,000 or less annual print run division, The Bermudian won a silver award in the nature and environment feature category for Peter Backenberg’s “For the Love of Lobsters” in last year’s autumn issue.
It received an award of merit in the art and cultural feature category for Elizabeth Jones’ “A Walk on the Railway Trail” for spring 2019.
Another award of merit, for art direction of a single story, went to Linda Weinraub’s “How Bermy Are You?” in the spring 2020 issue.
Irma held its 40th annual magazine awards virtually this week.
The association, founded in 1960, is a non-profit association made up of 25 regional magazines from across North America.
